Big-SQL_27224636This presentation will focus on the ways in which SQL on IBM i can be used to accomplish a number of tasks that are unrelated to traditional uses of SQL. Although the central theme of these capabilities will be systems administration, benefits can be realized beyond that topic.

You’ll learn about the SQL capabilities that exist for systems management purposes. This presentation will include working SQL examples and some compelling reasons to add SQL to your set of skills.

Note that this session has been updated for IBM i 7.2 and will include a preview of the new services coming to 6.1, 7.1 and 7.2 in 4Q/2014.

Here is the basic outline for this presentation:

  • Traditional IBM i Interfaces
  • SQL is Key for IBM i
  • SQL Catalogs
  • SQL’s TCP/IP Services
  • SQL’s Work Management Detail
  • Security with SQL
  • SQL Storage Devices
  • SQL Journal Details
  • Find SQL Catalogs and Services
  • Get Going with SQL on IBM i

There are a lot of great new SQL-based services for you to use on IBM i 7.1 (and 6.1). By coming to this presentation you will position yourself for success by having the recipe to get you started in learning and implementing SQL.
