In February IBM announced a refresh of the remaining POWER7+ product portfolio addressing the entry level through midrange offerings. This announcement also introduced a new midpoint system, the Power 760. He talked about what POWER7+ can provide for your work loads, the latest advancements for IO attachment options and how IBM i can further exploit these innovations with Technology Refresh 6 (TR6).
Allyn Walsh is a Certified Senior IT specialist working in the IBM Power Systems Advanced Technical Skills (ATS) organization. He has over 38 years in the IT industry, the last 21 years working with the AS/400 – Power Systems platform. He is a regular speaker at the Systems Technology Group University, Power Systems Technical conferences and User Groups. He has published a number of articles on the HMC and POWER systems management. He has co-authored several Redbooks, such as ‘IBM i 7.1 Technical Overview’ and ‘LPAR Simplification Tools Handbook’. His current focus areas include PowerHA for IBM i, Power Systems hardware, upgrade/migration planning, Virtualization on Power, HMC and POWER Firmware management.
